Dry skin is characterized by almost invisible pores and a dull, rough complexion with red patches and is caused by genetic or hormonal aging as well as external factors such as the wind and UV radiation. It can be normal at times, and fine and delicate at other times. Your skin can be temporarily dry from sunburn, burns, cold temperatures, abrasions and certain medications. While it repairs itself, you'll experience, dryness, flaking and sometimes itchiness. Some people may suffer from a dry-skin condition, which runs in families, where their skin doesn't itch, but the disease makes their skin flake and sometimes crack.
